Group Art Therapy
I have previously provided structured therapeutic art groups with a focus on mental health and connection as well as groups designed to focus on processes as therapeutic. I have also attended hundreds of groups as a participant.
I provide art therapy groups on family ASD camps where we centre sensory experiencing for both autistic and non-autistic humans. These groups have been hugely insightful, noticing where processes of making might make us slow down, or speed up and this might clash with a way of being we inhabit.
I also focus on minimal expectations so that everyone can work within their capacity and find connection to others or to the art making.
I provide group art therapy at highschools where I am learning what students I work with need, and developing programs that address this. These groups are ongoing and are responsive to what is happening for group members. We are currently focusing on a mindful space, and a social space, both within creative contexts.
Previously I have run 8 week programs at two highschools, designed to work with students who are disengaging from school. These have also been amazing learning experiences and continue to inform the way I design group art therapy programs.
